The National Service Authority Bill 2024 was approved by Parliament, paving the way for the creation of the National Service Authority.
In order to promote national growth and increase young employability, this new organization will concentrate on mobilizing and assigning talented people to important areas.
The National Service Authority is formally established under the bill as a corporate entity with the power to create and carry out national service policies and initiatives.
This program has the potential to be extremely important in addressing young unemployment and fostering national development.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Executive Director, Osei Assibey Antwi, expressed his excitement for the bill’s passing and its possible advantages for the country’s youth in a media statement on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
“If you have a vibrant youth, if you have a youth that has a future, if you have a youth that knows where they are going, if you have a youth that has the policy to guide them, especially at this time that the current management and the board have now moved into a new direction called deployment for employment. This deployment for employment can only be enhanced with this current backing,” Mr. Assibey Antwi stated.
He emphasized that if the measure passed, the authority would be able to produce internal revenues, which would help the government’s efforts to give young people jobs.
“Now, Parliament has given us autonomy, an authority vested with powers in areas where it will enhance entrepreneurship. With this current status, NSS can work to achieve a lot of internally-generated funds to reduce the burden on the central government, and we know the President will assent to it to give it the finality,” Mr. Assibey Antwi added.
