President John Mahama names Dr. Randy Abbey as Acting CEO of COCOBOD

President John Dramani Mahama has named Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey as Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

In compliance with Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L. 81) and Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution, the nomination was formally announced in a letter dated January 21, 2025.

Dr. Callistus Mahama, the President’s secretary, signed the letter, which reads: “Dr. Abbey’s appointment is effective immediately and will remain in place pending the constitutionally required advice of the COCOBOD Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”

President Mahama congratulated Dr. Abbey on his new position and wished him luck, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the institution efficiently.

Dr. Abbey’s appointment is expected to inject new energy and strategic direction into COCOBOD, a critical body in Ghana’s cocoa industry.

COCOBOD’s operations are important to supporting the livelihoods of millions of farmers while also contributing to national revenue.
