SONA 2025: Mahama calls on NPP to attend the upcoming international economic conference

President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his stance that the Free Senior High School program will not be discontinued. Instead, his administration will enhance the program, he stated. Delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in parliament on Thursday, February 27, he said the way and manner the programme was implemented left much to be desired. “I John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, will not cancel the free SHS programme,” he said. Mr. Mahama had previously promised not to cancel the program during the 2024 election campaign.

The NPP and its minority in parliament have been urged by President John Dramani Mahama not to boycott the next national economic forum, as they did at the Senchi Forum.

He said he wants to get everyone on board to build the nation in his first State of the Nation Address, which he gave in Parliament on Thursday, February 27.

“I am confident that the sacrifice we have all made this year will benefit our county going into the future,” he said.

“Together we shall build the Ghana we all want,” he stressed.

The National Economic Dialogue was announced by the Mahamaa administration and was set for March 3 and 4, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

This significant meeting will provide a forum for Ghanaians to address urgent economic issues and develop workable solutions to promote long-term economic expansion. With a keynote address focused on “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together,” President Mahama will serve as the conversation’s leader.

In order to fulfill President Mahama’s campaign pledge to include people in conversations that will influence their economic future, this initiative is an essential first step. Regarding priority policies and structural reforms, the discussion will encourage participants to agree and work together.
