The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin, has commended President Akufo Addo for initiating the Free SHS policy, which he disclosed, has ensured that the less privileged also have access to education.
Speaking at a grand durbar to climax this year’s Ohum festival, he described the policies as one of the greatest interventions ever introduced in the country.
Ohum is a festival celebrated by the people of Akyem. It is marked to thank God for his blessings, and also an occasion to cleanse Akyem stools.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin entreated staff of various Senior High Schools and other stakeholders to play their roles deligently to ensure the success of the policy.
He urged indigenes to help in the development of their various communities after succeeding outside such communities.
While speaking against the use of illegal drugs by the youth and the danger posed by illegal mining activities, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin advised parents, especially men to be responsible in catering for their children.
Okuapemhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo commended the Okyenhene for his exemplary leadership in the past twenty five years.
He wished the Akyem people well and prayed God to continue to bless the Okyenhene.
The festival which coincided with the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Okyenhene, was attended by traditional leaders, government officials, politicians, the clergy, Muslim leaders, as well as people from all walks of life.
