Supreme Court cancels re-collation results for four constituencies

The Supreme Court has canceled the re-collation results for four constituencies: Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and Techiman South.

However, the results for Nsawam Adoagyiri and Ahafo Ano East remain valid.

This decision comes after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenged the High Court’s ruling that ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate the parliamentary results in six constituencies.

The NDC argued that the High Court breached the rules of natural justice by failing to give its parliamentary candidates a hearing before granting the mandamus orders.

The affected constituencies were initially ordered to be re-collated due to disputes over the election results.

The EC had indicated that it would re-collate the results in nine constituencies, citing irregularities and incomplete statement of results sheets.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed the high court to hear the mandamus application which was brought before it on Tuesday December 31.
