Kofi Akpaloo, the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has categorically denied claims that, during the Electoral Commission’s presidential balloting, he switched positions with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Akpaloo sharply refuted the accusations, calling them bogus and even asserting that anyone who accepts them must have “kerosene or urine in their brains.”
Speaking about the matter, Akpaloo clarified that he had selected his own ballot, number 5, during the ballot draw conducted by the Electoral Commission.
Initially, he drew the number 8 but expressed his discontent, as it reminded him of his prior ballot number 9 in the last elections, which didn’t generate great outcomes.
“I wasn’t happy with it because in the last elections I picked 9, which didn’t go in my favour, so I didn’t want anything around that number. 8 is not a good number for elections, so I was happy when they called for re-balloting and I picked 5,”Kofi Akpaloo told Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Adwenekasa on Accra-based Original FM 91.9.
Akpaloo stressed that he had no interest in switching positions with the NPP in order to refute the accusations of ballot-swapping.
