The legal head of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Rev. Victor Brew has emphasized the crucial role of integrity in the organization.
He stated that WAEC is currently working on releasing examination results, but they must first conduct a thorough investigation, even though a court has ordered them to release the results.
Rev. Brew explained that WAEC has filed for a stay of execution, allowing them extra time to ensure that they take the right steps to address any case of malpractice.
He highlighted the importance of being cautious, saying, “If we release the results without addressing the malpractice, it could damage WAEC’s integrity as an institution.”
Out of 1,300 schools, 120 were involved in malpractice during the exams.
While some Ghanaians may criticize WAEC’s actions, Rev. Brew stressed the need to maintain the organization’s integrity.
“We must balance it out,” he concluded, underlining the significance of upholding trust in the examination process.
