We are traumatized and also living in fear – East Legon Residents

The residents of Communication Hills estate located at East Legon Hills in the greater region have expressed their worry and fear over several gunshots which happened last Saturday 3 February, 2024 just behind their estates by some unknown land guards.

Speaking to the media, the chairman of the estate Mafrom management committee, Mr William Mensah Doodo said, the shooting incident which lasted for about fifteen minutes has traumatized many residents including women and children due to several robbery incidents the residents have experienced in recent times.

He attributed the shooting incident to a clash between land guards who tried to stop workers of Mr. Chris Hammond the owner of Red Row estate in the same location who claims to own a piece of land in the estate with documents and was trying to develop it.

The seriousness of the incident was that, aside from the gunshots, several valuable assets such as a bulldozer and a concrete mixer which were on the site were all burnt.

Also, Mr. Thomas Hayford and Mr. Benedict Abankwe share their frustrations and fear the gunshots have affected their families.

According to them, they were thinking that it was some kids who were playing with Christmas firecrackers (knockouts) until the shooting got closer to their homes.

The residents of Communication Hills estate are calling on State authorities to do everything possible to provide them with either a police post or increase Police patrol in the area to maximize the security of the place.
