‘We must fight corruption, it robs our nations of development’ – Mahama to African leaders

President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the importance of good governance as a pillar of Africa’s economic prosperity.

Speaking at the 3rd African Prosperity Dialogue in Accra, he argued that investors and businesses thrive in environments where there is stability, the rule of law, and predictable policies.

He made it clear that governance goes hand-in-hand with economic growth.

“For investors and businesses, stability, predictable policies, and the rule of law are crucial for thriving in any economy,” President Mahama said, noting that such conditions are essential for attracting investments and fostering business growth.

He also addressed the growing frustration among Africa’s youth, who often struggle to find opportunities to fulfil their potential.

President Mahama emphasized that for African democracy to truly deliver for its people, it must result in tangible economic benefits.

“Our youth are getting tired and frustrated at the lack of opportunity for realizing their dreams and aspirations,” he said.

Furthermore, President Mahama stressed the need for greater efforts to fight corruption, which he sees as a major obstacle to progress.

“We must fight corruption, which robs our nations of resources needed for development,” he declared, reminding leaders that accountability and transparency are foundational to Africa’s prosperity.
