The Attorney General’s Office has categorically denied allegations that the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, engaged in illegal activity by persuading a key witness, Richard Jakpa, to ‘implicate’ Ato Forson, a former Deputy Minister of Finance, in an ongoing trial.
Isaac Wilberforce Mensah, spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office, stated in a phone interview on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana that Godfred Dame has acted lawfully and professionally throughout the trial.
“The Attorney General has not perpetrated any illegality,” Wilberforce emphasized. “He has acted in accordance with the law and his duties as the chief legal advisor to the government.”
Wilberforce’s response comes amidst growing concerns about the integrity of the legal process and potential political interference.
However, the Attorney General’s Office maintains that the trial is a straightforward legal matter, and that the evidence will speak for itself in court.
The Attorney General’s Office has assured the public that the Attorney General has not engaged in any illegal activity and has fulfilled his duties per the law.
The Office has urged the public to disregard Jakpa’s accusations and trust in the legal process.
