The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, has criticized the administration for what he sees as the six new regions’ lack of progress.
According to him, the six new regions that the Akufo-Addo administration created are only symbolic, having not undergone any real growth.
During a gathering of traditional leaders at the Jakpa Palace, he made a solemn pledge to give the development of the recently established regions top priority should he be elected.
“It is easy to create a region, but the region must have certain things to be a region, the six regions that were created, were created just in name. The things that must exist so when you enter the region you will know this is a region are still not there.
“I can assure you that not only for the Savannah region but all the six new when the NDC comes into power, the things that you need to be called a region, we will make sure that you have them.”
Mahama expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to scrap the Damomgo Water Project during his speech.
The former President emphasized the significance of concrete development programs in these areas and reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to promoting their advancement should he be given the chance to lead.
