Parliament resumes sitting on June 11

The Office of the Speaker has announced that the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of Parliament would reconvene on Tuesday, June 11, at 10 a.m.

The date of the resume was confirmed via a statement issued by Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin on Monday, May 27.

“Pursuant to Order 58 of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana,” the statement reads, “I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that, the third meeting of the fourth session of the eighth parliament of the fourth Republic shall commence on Tuesday, the 11th day of June 2024 at ten o’clock in the forenoon at Parliament House, Accra.”

This comes after the last meeting of Parliament on Friday, May 17, during which the government and the World Bank’s International Development Association authorized a US$150 million loan arrangement.

Strengthening Accra’s economic resilience is the goal of the loan. Furthermore, two new appointees to the Ministry of Finance and 21 other appointments to Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial positions were confirmed by Parliament.
